F1 legend Sir Frank Williams is discharged from hospital

Williams F1 confirm former team boss and founder Sir Frank Williams has been discharged from hospital and is "on the mend at home"

Sir Frank Williams, 78, who cemented the Williams family name in Formula One history as one of the most successful teams, was admitted to hospital earlier this month.

The Williams F1 team were a dominant figure throughout the 80s and 90s winning nine Constructors titles and seven drivers titles.

Both Sir Frank Williams daughter Claire have since stepped back from any involvement within the sport after selling the team in late September.

Williams F1 said in a statement:

"The Williams family would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year."

"We're delighted to say that Sir Frank has been discharged from hospital and is now on the mend at home."
